‘Capsule’ was conceived and released digitally within a 3D environment powered by Scotomalab for Helsinki Fashion Week. As such, the digital garments are currently claimable and fully usable by virtual avatars whilst the physical garments are in production.
Design and visuality within ‘Capsule’ are directly informed by the core definition of the word 'sustainability' as 'able to be sustained.' It has become imperative to approach creative practice with the mindset that for a garment to be sustainable in its very definition, it needs to do one of two things:
A. It needs to pull rubbish and pollutants out of the environment and recirculate them back into human spaces as usable products.
B. It needs to start and finish in the ground. It needs to be plant-based and compost fully.
Every piece in 'Capsule' is fully circular — either entirely compostable or made from 100% recycled/recyclable or reclaimed materials. This collection was made possible with the support of Natural Fiber Welding in sponsorship of Mirum Plant Leather. It also features a collaborative look with Feminist Internet — the proceeds of which are directly donated to Abya Yala Fund, supporting indigenous groups in South America fighting extractive industries and the climate crisis. This collection, like every other project undertaken by this brand, never utilises unpaid labour.
